Let me tell you about my daughter. She is one of the most selfless people I know. Even I take lessons from her! She has donated her hair twice to programs that create wigs for children going through chemotherapy and other severe treatments that have hair loss as a side effect. She first donated to Locks of Love in 2006, on her birthday. Locks of Love is a NFP organization that gives one wig per child. This year we donated to Children With Hair Loss. While Locks of Love is a worthwhile cause, Children With Hair Loss is another organization that gives one wig per child PER YEAR. She is growing her hair again to harvest for this program. She plans to continue to donate her hair every year and a half.

There are fewer "restrictions" on hair length as well:
- Hair should be at least 8 inches in length or longer is preferred
- Non-chemically treated hair is preferred (but any hair in good condition will be accepted)
- Gray hair is accepted

If you are looking for a worthy cause that does not require a lot of extra cash, this is the one. It doesn't cost anymore than your regular hair cut....and your kids can do it too! You can even cut it yourself and send it in and save the cost of the haircut!
Check out the website and see the pictures of the beautiful young girls in their fancy gowns. The smiles on their faces say it all.

You know, in July 1992, my older sister gave birth to twins; a boy and girl to be exact. Twins due to fertility. My niece and nephew are 16 now. What is remarkable is that my niece also donates to Locks of Love. When I saw your daughter's pic of her holding her hair, it reminded me of my niece. You and Scott are definitely doing a great job! It really is too bad I'm so far away; I think our families would have good times together.
Love it! char
